The Designer’s Essay: Bridging Stone and Soul

独立设计师手记：石头与灵魂的桥梁

Moon & Sea was conceived within the creative cradles of the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute (SFAI), one of China’s most prestigious art academies. As a recent Master of Fine Arts (MFA) graduate with a dual background in Art Design Theory and Product Design, I have chosen Chongqing—a breathtaking metropolis sculpted by mountains, rivers, and endless fog—as the permanent sanctuary for my design studio.

During my academic years, I embarked on solo pilgrimages across more than ten historic Chinese cities. From the wind-swept sands of the ancient Silk Road to the misty, ink-wash water towns of the south, and the sacred sites of oriental stone-carving heritage, I immersed myself in regional craftsmanship and ancient philosophy. These journeys became a spiritual dialogue with materials and culture, heavily defining the poetic soul of my creations.

Rejecting the cold, mass-produced uniformity of industrial jewelry, our studio treats each piece as a wearable sculpture. By bridging classical Eastern wisdom with contemporary structural aesthetics, we craft modern talismans designed to bring quietude, balance, and spiritual resonance to those navigating a fast-paced world.

The Materials: Natural & Soulful

We work exclusively with natural, earth-born treasures, selecting stones not for flawless commercial grading, but for their unique character, inner light, and spiritual resonance:

• Hetian Jade (Nephrite): Revered for millennia in Eastern philosophy as the ultimate stone of virtue, wisdom, and inner peace. We source premium, luminous nephrite jade that possesses a warm, tactile, oil-like luster. It is a living stone that absorbs your story, growing more beautiful and soulful the closer it is worn to your skin.
• Ethereal Chalcedony: Embodying the soft, misty essence of traditional Chinese ink wash paintings. With its translucent, dreamlike glow and fluid, poetic hues, each piece feels like a quiet fragment of captured moonlight or a serene sea, bringing gentle emotional balance and harmony to the wearer.
• Sacred Crystals: Pure, natural quartz and mineral treasures, preserved to showcase their organic geological textures and raw earth energy. Hand-selected for their distinct vibrational frequencies, they serve as modern talismans for mindfulness, clarity, and spiritual alignment.
• Hand-Sculpted Silver & Bronze: Delicately crafted to frame these oriental gems, capturing the fluid textures of wind, water ripples, and ancient aesthetics to create truly wearable art.
